Old age or a disability does not make someone a threat to society."
He continued: "These folks should be able to defend themselves just like everyone else, and Social Security has no business stripping them of that right."
Johnson's bill, H.R. 3516, will stop Obama's bureaucratic blitzkrieg on our constitutional right to keep and bear arms BUT ONLY IF YOU DEMAND IT.

The Social Security Administration sent a classic CYA response to Rep. Sam Johnson's letter demanding more information on the agency's proposed reporting on seniors and others receiving the SS federal benefit to the NICS background check system in many cases for no other reason than a recipient having a representative payee. This disarmament is being done WITH NO DUE PROCESS granted in the automatic stripping of Americans' Second Amendment rights an anti-gun, anti-freedom assault similar to that employed by the Veterans Administration to DISARM OUR VETS!

Believe it or not, Obama is trying to use his bureaucratic bludgeon to beat the Second Amendment to death for the largest gun-owning demographic in the United States, our vulnerable SENIORS!
"Old age or a disability doesn't make someone a threat to society. Having a representative payee should not be grounds to revoke constitutional rights. We strongly urge you to halt any steps to provide information on Social Security beneficiaries or Supplemental Security Income recipients to the NICS," so said Rep. Johnson and other members of Congress wrote in a letter to Carolyn Colvin, Acting Commission for Social Security.
Colvin has since responded that no names have yet been turned over but that the SSA is "looking at possible implementation scenarios." It does NOT rule out that having a representative payee will result in disarmament.
While this letter is a great start, WE NEED MORE THAN A LETTER WE NEED TO DEFEND OUR SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS!

The Second Amendment rights of America's law-abiding senior citizens many of whom are our most revered VETERANS are in jeopardy. The Obama administration is stealthily moving to expand the "mental health" dragnet by mandating Social Security now report seniors' health information to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, according to a new report by the Los Angeles Times.
Like the mandated Veterans Affairs reporting, all it will take is being deemed unable to manage their personal affairs like finances because of "marked subnormal intelligence, or mental illness, incompetency, condition, or disease," and their gun rights are gone.
And just like the VA reporting, that by the Social Security administration is bound to be riddled with inaccuracies and errors leaving our seniors to jump through expensive hoops to get their lawful gun rights restored.
According to the Times report, the Social Security agency "has been drafting its policy outside of public view."
ONLY YOUR PUBLIC OUTRAGE WILL SHUT IT DOWN!

Serious mental health issues WERE the problem in both cases above and Obama's proposed anti-Second Amendment actions wouldn't have stopped them!
But they WILL stop our veterans and other Americans in need of depression counseling, therapy in readjusting after deployment, or other treatment from seeking it!
MAKE NO MISTAKE: This is just a convenient excuse for implementing MORE GUN CONTROL even if it will DO NOTHING to save innocent Americans. It demonizes our fine veterans and in fact puts more Americans' well-being in jeopardy by discouraging important counseling services. But from Obama's perspective, where better to intensify gun control than with our vets, whose healthcare is already being overseen BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT?

According to a shocking memo first obtained by The Daily Caller, the FBI is working hand-in-glove with the Obama Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to strip America's soldiers from their right to keep and bear arms.
These corrupt apparatchiks are doing WHATEVER it takes from distorting "confidential" interviews, to manipulating privileged medical information, to flat out lying about or exaggerating the "mismanagement" of vets personal financial matters to eradicate the Second Amendment rights of our brave fellow citizens who answered the call and put their lives on the line FIGHTING FOR FREEDOM.
Congress MUST ACT and ENSURE the Feds AND the State police powers colluding in this travesty STOP THIS ABUSE OF OUR VETERANS NOW! This is unconstitutional and unjust, and if you are passive and tolerate this abuse upon others, it WILL next be visited by a tyrannical Obama regime upon YOU.
A memo dated February 2012, is entitled: "Memorandum Of Understanding Between The United States Department Of Veterans Affairs And The Federal Bureau Of Investigation Regarding The National Instant Criminal Background Check System."
It stipulates that the VA MUST provide a veterans' personal information to the FBI:
VA will provide an encrypted compact disc exchanged via mail to the FBI no less than quarterly for, inter alia, inclusion in the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).
In fact, it reveals a "monthly CD" is submitted by the VA information technology center in Austin, Texas, to the FBI with NEW NAMES of veterans added to the "watch list" our veterans enjoy ZERO citizens' privilege they are data-based like criminals!
Veteran Douglas Szklarski, one of those vets, told The Daily Caller,
"I was getting real sick from the medications they had me on," I pretty much lived in bed. I said I wouldn't [take the VA pills] anymore. They said you have to take them. They deemed me incompetent.
"I've had like nine doctors say I wasn't incompetent and they still went after my guns," Szklarski added. "ATF came to my house. I had to surrender them."
And it's only going to get worse, folks On Apr. 25, Obama's anti-gun surgeon general Vivek Murthy in an interview with NPR re-affirmed his commitment to eradicating "gun violence" as a PUBLIC HEALTH concern while ObamaCare continues infringing on our rights and privacy within the sanctity of our doctors' offices and hospitals these VA anti-gun maneuvers are but a TRIAL RUN to see what "public health" gun grab schemes they can get away with
MANY veterans are placed on this list deeming them "disqualified" for firearms possession after being declared financially 'incompetent' by the Veterans Administration a far cry from being determined to be dangerous to anyone, themselves included!
Could you imagine if this "criteria" of financial mismanagement were applied to civilians? THERE WOULD BE RIOTS IN THE STREETS!
Yet, the VA is getting away with disarming our veterans using criteria that do NOT meet the federal government's own standards of "danger!" to make this list.
According to a 2013 Senate report, the VA's recommendations account for 99 percent of the people in the "mental defective" category of the National Instant Criminal Background Check System.

A dozen California GOP State senators sent a letter to State Attorney General Kamala Harris calling for an oversight hearing on the State's latest aggression in confiscating firearms from "prohibited persons," or those whose names appear on the flaw-ridden Armed Prohibited Persons System.
This is a one of a kind State database A MENTAL HEALTH GUN REGISTRY created in 2007 for the purported purpose of cross-referencing firearms owners against a "separate" list of aforementioned "prohibited persons."
Should the two lists collide, the State's Department of Justice sends a swarm of ARMED agents to the home to DISARM THE CITIZEN SEIZING ALL FIREARMS IN THE HOME.
The GOP's letter's prime "accountability" concern is that for an extra $24 MILLION in funding, there was only a net increase of 1,616 confiscated firearms out of an expected 40,000 ESTIMATED to be in the possession of "prohibited persons."
NOT TO MENTION that with such raids that introduced aggressive police action to uninvited civilian contact, the opportunity for an unintended violent "incident" is VASTLY HEIGHTENED!
Certainly, keeping firearms out of the hands of the truly mentally ill IS a worthwhile objective, BUT this ill-conceived and poorly executed program is not AND THERE IS NO ACCOUNTABILITY IN SIGHT!
According to Gun Owners of California, anywhere from 40 percent to 60 percent of the names on this list SHOULD NOT BE THERE AT ALL but appear because of bureaucratic bungling or because citizens do not know they have to fill out forms x, y, and z and petition the court for restoration of their Second Amendment rights!
Many possibly most don't even know their names are on the list.
AND according to a 2013 State Auditor report, 37 percent of firearms simply were wrongly confiscated!
"They show up in full regalia armor, machine guns and black SUVs," said Sam Paredes, the Gun Owners of California's executive director. "Very few judges will give search warrants because the information is so sketchy, so they go and knock on the door and try to bully their way into the home."
And simply handing over a firearm to a relative (at another address) for safekeeping isn't good enough The SWAT team just goes there to seize the weapon.
This abuse by the Leviathan State creates unnecessary occasions for VIOLENT RESPONSES, as if we don't have enough of THOSE in the news
CONGRESS MUST LEAD THE WAY IN DEFENDING OUR SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS. Demand they begin by reintroducing and passing S. 572 and H.R. 577, the Veterans Second Amendment Protection Act and take the bullseye off our honored Vets who are specifically targeted in this unconstitutional dragnet!

In as early as an October 2013 editorial for Science Daily, Dr. J. Michael Bostwick of the Mayo Clinic wrote: "We physicians generally do not know enough about firearms to have an informed conversation with our patients, let alone counsel them about gun safety."
Dr. Bostwick RIGHTLY and JUSTLY argues:
- Even if every mentally ill person in the country were registered, the system isn't prepared to handle them and only about half of the states require registration.
- Only about 10 percent of mentally ill people are registered and these are people who have been committed, they've come to attention in a way that requires court intervention.
- Literature says the vast majority of people who perpetrate these kinds of shootings are not mentally ill or it is recognized after the fact.
- The majority of mentally ill people aren't dangerous.
Dr. Richard Friedman: " there is overwhelming epidemiological evidence that the vast majority of people with psychiatric disorders (the mentally ill) do not commit violent acts. Only about 4 percent of violence in the United States can be attributed to people with mental illness."

The National Journal notes: Perhaps most important, although people with serious mental illness have committed a large percentage of high-profile crimes, the mentally ill represent a very small percentage of the perpetrators of violent crime overall. Researchers estimate that if mental illness could be eliminated as a factor in violent crime, the overall rate would be reduced by only 4 percent. That means 96 percent of violent crimesdefined by the FBI as murders, robberies, rapes, and aggravated assaultsare committed by people without any mental-health problems at all. Solutions that focus on reducing crimes by the mentally ill will make only a small dent in the nation's rate of gun-related murders, ranging from mass killings to shootings that claim a single victim. It's not just that the mentally ill represent a minority of the country's population; it's also that the overlap between mental illness and violent behavior is poor. And then there's this elephant in the room would such laws have stopped the mentally-sound mother of Newtown murderer Adam Lanza from legally purchasing firearms? Of course not! |

Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and John Cornyn (R-TX) from SUCKING UP to the gun grabbers after the Newtown CT tragedy and pushing their own NATIONAL background check bill targeting the mentally ill for inclusion on the lifetime gun ban list!
